(Yangon, 2nd May 2018) MPT, Myanmar’s first and leading telecommunications operator, pleased to announce that SMS Donation Channel for the construction of the Eternal Peace Pagoda in Dakhina Thiri Township of Nay Pyi Taw, has successfully raised 54,327,500.00 MMK in donation from MPT users who generously made their efforts for the completion of Eternal Peace Pagoda.
This SMS donation channel has launched starting from 28th September 2018 and successfully engaged 108,655 times of transactions by MPT users to donation program. The funds that come from the deepest generosity of MPT users form SMS donation channel was transferred to Ministry of Religious Affairs and Culture in 2nd May 2019.
U Khin Maung Tun, Managing Director for MPT (Deputy CEO, MPT-KSGM joint Operations) stated that, “We are pleased to contribute as part of this great graceful moment of MPT users around the nation to share their kind heart by donation in the construction of Eternal Peace Pagoda that will be a lasting symbol for the country’s efforts to the history of peace building. I would like to say thanks to every single one who involved in this donation form MPT’s platform. And we are also delighted by the generosities and kind hearts showed by MPT users for their support for this project”.
MPT’s SMS Donation Channels, in past years, are also developed for rehabilitation process for flood victims in 2015, restoration and preservation of heritage pagodas from Bagan and Rakhine Region damaged in the 2016 earthquake and, also for providing humanitarian assistance, of Rakhine residents in 2017 by contributing the generous supports for the people of Myanmar.
